Krabi Island:Koh Lanta or Lanta Island is a district of Krabi province, There are several islands comprising Koh Lanta but the two largest of which are Ko Lanta Noi and Ko Lanta Yai.The other islands are many different-sized island, some of which are surrounded by beautiful coral reefs such as Koh Ha, Koh Rok and Koh HaiTourists know Koh Lanta in the name of Koh Lanta Yai which has 9 beaches lie from north to south along the sunset coast. The island boasts stunning scenery,fantastic white sandy beaches, coastlines have more than 70 small islands and plenty with forest,  coral reefs and under water life. Along the East side, schools, police, hospital, villages, etc.  Ko Lanta is popular with tourists seeking a holiday away from the parties. The suitable time to visit Koh Lanta is from November to April.

Climate

Weather in the region is tropical - there are only two seasons: the hot season from January to April, and the rainy season from May to December. Temperatures during the year average 25ºC to 32ºC (77ºF to 89.6ºF) and the yearly rainfall averages 2569 mm.

How to get there

Ko Lanta is accessible from the mainland by car or passenger ferry. The passenger ferry operates during November - April only and is the most popular option during this time.  The most common way to travel to Koh Lanta is by car or minibus from Krabi or Trang, or by passenger ferry from Krabi Town, Ao Nang, Railey Beach, Koh Phi Phi & Phuket.

Krabi IslandThis is an island called Koh Kai(mean Chicken island). Koh Kai is situated just south of Poda and Tup Islands about 30 minutes by longtail boat from the west coast of KrabiKoh Kai is one of the most recognizable of all the coast of Krabi. The rock shaped like a rooster on the limestone moutain at Chicken Island is the symbol of Krabi sea. The snorkeling in this part of Chicken Island is really good, Chicken Island also has plenty of coral reefs to appreciate in the west of the island. Koh Kai or Chicken Island is just one island you will visit in the 4 island tour one of the main tourist attractions in Krabi.

How to get there

Since there is no direct ferry service to Koh Kai, tourists are recommended to hire the boats from Pakbara Pier-Koh Tarutao-Koh Lipe which will pass Koh Khai along the way or go with the touring boats providing the opportunity for tourists to admire the islands beauty very closely. Otherwise, purchase a tour package for a visit.

Krabi Island: Koh Ngai or Koh Hai is an island district in Krabi Province, but actually it can better be reached via Trang in the Southern Andaman Coast. Koh Ngai is one of the Koh Lanta group of islands that make up the Koh Lanta National Marine Park. Koh Ngai (Koh Hai) is a tiny island measuring 4 km long and 2 km wide. This island has a forested interior and offers white-sand beaches alongside clear water and good coral which encircles the entire island making it a perfect place for snorkeling. Most of the island is geared toward mid range travellers, but the newer resorts cater to a more upscale clientele. Still, there are still a few choices left for those looking to spend under 1,000 baht per night. Other islands in the area include Koh Chuek, Koh Waen, Koh Mah and Koh Muk, and you can arrange tours to these islands from the accommodation outlets on Koh Ngai.

How to get there

Trang is easier to access, from Pak Meng Pier, located 15 km away on the mainland opposite, in Trang Province. Standard ferries take about one hour. A boat can be rented for 1,500 baht for 10 people and 6,000-10,000 baht for 20-40 people.

Krabi Island: Koh Poda is an island off the west coast of Thailand, in Krabi Province, about 8 kilometres (5 mi) from Ao Nang. The circular island is no more than a kilometre in diameter, covered in palm trees and almost entirely encircled by a soft white sand beach. The sea is very clean, clear and suitable for swimming whereas the beach is nice for sunbathing. Visitors may also enjoy snorkeling in the north and the east of the island, or kayaking along the beach very well.

How to get there

Most of the travel packages from tour agencies already include transportation from Krabi town to Ao Nang Pier and to the islands. However, if you are not buying them, there are private boat services from Ao Nang to Koh Poda and the three isles as well.


To charter a whole narrow motorboat for a day, it normally costs about1,200 baht. The journey from Ao Nang to Koh Poda takes around 15 minutes by speedboat, or 30 minutes by regular motorboat.

Krabi Island: Koh Mai Phai or Bamboo island is located northeast of Phi Phi Don. Koh Mai Phai is a small island between the Krabi coast and Phi Phi. Long beach along the front from the head end of the island island. After a rocky island in the sea at this beautiful green. Beach clean and smooth cotton. The water is safe, there is practically no current and the water stays shallow for a long time. The fish are abundant and are certainly not afraid to swim around you. Phai Island is never too crowded; arriving early in the morning means you can have the place to yourself for those perfect beach photos.

How to get there
  1. If you stay in Phi Phi, arrange a boat hire the day before and plan to leave early in the morning. Normal boat trips are also available later in the day
  2. The boat chartering boat tours and boat trips are available. Boat rental for every pose. Boat from the port of Krabi. Tour boats leave port at Nopparat Thara beach (Ao Nang the end).

Krabi Island: Koh Yung or Mosquito Island. The island gets its name from the black clouds of mosquitoes at sunset. The marine life is excellent with many schools of fishes. Koh Yung there are often two dive sites worth mentioning. Koh Yung Pinnacle north of the island and Koh Yung South both offering an excellent dive if visibilities won't ruin it. You can see reef sharks, dolphins, Leopard sharks resting on the bottom as well as many blue spotted stingrays. Divers will especially want to make a trip to Koh Yung Island or Mosquito Island. This great island has some spectacular diving that has divers coming back time and time again.

Susan Hoi or Fossils shell beach. Situated at Ban Laem Pho, 17 kilometres from town. Over eons dating from the Tertiary Age, about 40 million years ago, these snails lived and died by the million.  This shell graveyard used to be a large freshwater swamp, the habitat of diverse mollusks. Due to seismic activity, the limestone layer is now distributed in great broken sheets of impressive magnitude on the seashore.

How to get there

  • By air: Take daily direct flights from Bangkok to Krabi, taking 1.20 hours
  • By bus: Take air-conditioned bus services to Krabi leaving the Southern Bus Terminal at Borommaratcha Chonnani Road daily from 6.30 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. 
  • By train: Take a train from Bangkok's Hua Lamphong Station to Trang or Nakhon Si Thammarat and take a bus or taxi to Krabi
